On 7 September 2021, the National Art Museum of China (Beijing) opened "COMMON DREAM — An Exhibition of Masterpieces from SCO Countries and an Exhibition of Paintings by Women Artists and Children (under 16) from SCO Countries." Sponsored by the All-China Women's Federation and China's SCO Committee on Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation with support from the SCO Secretariat, the display is part of a cycle of events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. The event was attended by Deputy Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China and General Secretary of China's SCO Committee on Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation Shen Yueyue, Russian Ambassador to the PRC Andrei Denisov, and NAMOC Director Wu Weishan, all of whom addressed those present with welcoming remarks. On the guest list among others were ambassadors of a number of SCO member states, SCO observer states and dialogue partners, as well as deputies of the SCO Secretary-General Grigory Logvinov and Zhang Haizhou.
What is on display is designed to strengthen humanitarian ties and to promote the common ideas and values of friendship and good-neighbourliness, which conforms to the principles of the Shanghai Spirit and demonstrates in full measure the uniqueness of national artistic and cultural traditions of the peoples that make up the SCO Family.
The exhibition's four sections (Homeland and Aspiration, Road and Communion, Diversity and Integration, Fate and Coexistence) number 53 works of art (including those contributed by museums of SCO countries and NAMOC), 89 online creations, and 55 works created by children from SCO states.
The opening of the event took place simultaneously with an identical event held in the Republic of Tajikistan, the current SCO chair. Both exhibitions are timed to coincide with the anniversary meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State scheduled for 16-17 September in Dushanbe.
