On 1 June 2021, Tajikistan chaired an expert meeting, held via videoconference, on the preparations for the SCO Economic Forum with the theme Strengthening cooperation in the digital economy, e-commerce and innovation, which will be held on 23-24 June 2021 in Dushanbe.
During the meeting, the experts discussed aspects of the preparation and holding of the Economic Forum as a new effective economic platform contributing to the development and further deepening of trade and economic ties between the countries. The parties discussed the forum programme, the main subjects of panel sessions, bilateral meetings on the digital economy, e-commerce, social issues and technology development in general, as well as the preparation of the forum venue in line with the anti-pandemic precautions. According to the Tajik side, the organisers will prioritise participants' safety and comfort.
The forum is planned to be held in a conventional format with in-person meetings while using modern digital technologies for remote connection between a wide range of specialised agencies and associations of member states, observers and SCO dialogue partners.
