On 30 March 2021, Pakistan chaired a regular meeting, via videoconference, of the Permanent Working Group on Science and Technology Cooperation of SCO Member States.
The participants discussed the preparations for the 6th Meeting of the Heads of Science and Technology Ministries and Departments of the SCO Member States.
They swapped information about the member states' science and technology policies and agreed to continue these exchanges as the work proceeds.
The Pakistani side announced its intention to hold an online conference on the application of modern technology in the SCO space, which will be focused on technical items, seminars and poster presentations, as well as national and international talks plus a panel discussion.
Those taking part in the event also discussed mutual efforts to exchange experts, scientists and researchers in the SCO countries' priority spheres, namely medicine, agriculture and energy technology. They reaffirmed their mutual interest in facilitating access for experts and scientific groups to the member states' infrastructure and a desire to start working on a data base in the SCO's priority spheres.
The experts agreed to keep working to build up cooperation in the field of science and technology between the SCO member states.
