On 11 October, 2020, a SCO Observer Mission for the presidential elections in Tajikistan began its work by visiting polling stations in the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, centrally-administered towns and districts, Gissar, Tursunzoda, Shahrinaw, as well as the city of Khujand of the Sughd Region, and the towns of Danghara and Norak, the Khatlon Region.
As of this writing, the SCO mission members have met with the chairmen and members of polling stations as part of the observation effort, and inspected the voting process at polling stations Nos. 76, 8, 12, 1 and 6 in the town of Tursunzoda, Nos. 1, 9, 50 and 2 in Gissar, Nos. 5, 7, 8, 1, 3, 14 and 10 in Danghara, Nos. 8 and 3 in Norak and Nos. 53, 22 and 16 in Khujand.
The SCO Mission was updated on the course of the presidential election in the Republic of Tajikistan. It was also provided with voter statistics, as well as information about each polling station's readiness for the presidential election.
The SCO Observer Mission noted that the polling stations it visited were duly prepared for free and secret voting in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan and its international obligations.
