SCO Expert Group on International Information Security meets in Moscow

The SCO Expert Group on International Information Security held a regular meeting within the framework of Russia's SCO presidency in Moscow on 12 November.

During the meeting, the experts reviewed the draft joint statement of the SCO member states on cooperation in ensuring international information security with a view to adopting it at the SCO summit in 2020.

In addition, the experts discussed two draft resolutions of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly — Developments in the Field of Information and Telecommunications in the Context of International Security; and Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes — and agreed to coordinate their efforts to promote them on behalf of the SCO member states for adoption at the UN General Assembly.

They also discussed interaction within the Open-ended Working Group on International Information Security and the UN Group of Governmental Experts on International Information Security.

In conclusion, Russian representatives presented a draft concept of a convention on safe internet operation and development intended to counter cyber crime and prevent threats to information security.

The meeting participants signed a protocol based on the meeting's results.
