On 17 May 2018, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov and Chinese Deputy Public Security Minister for Counter-Terrorism Liu Yuejin met on the sidelines of the Meeting of the Heads of the SCO Counter-Narcotics Agencies in Tianjin, China.
The officials addressed issues of further strengthening the anti-drug potential within the SCO and noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of developing cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, emphasising that the accession of the Republic of India and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the agreement between the SCO member states on cooperation in combating illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors will facilitate practical cooperation in solving the narcotics problem.
Liu Yuejin also noted the positive results of cooperation between the SCO and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and expressed hope that close contacts between them would continue to grow stronger.
The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
