SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov has sent a message congratulating Dmitry Medvedev on his appointment as the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
The message reads, in part:
Dear Mr Medvedev,
Please accept our heartfelt greetings on your appointment as the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
The decision by President of Russia Vladimir Putin to entrust you with this vital government position is fresh evidence of the high value placed on the government's performance under your expert guidance.
While working under difficult conditions during your past term, the Russian government has efficiently dealt with challenging tasks of socioeconomic development and also worked on international issues, strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. This is evident from the impressive outcome of the meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government, which you chaired in Sochi in December 2017.
I hope that Russia will continue to make its significant contribution to promoting dialogue and strengthening cooperation within the SCO, in particular on a practical level.
Mr Medvedev, I wish you good health, general well-being and new achievements in your responsible public work in the interests of prosperity for all Russian people.
