On 12 March 2018, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation opened an information stand on the antidrug cooperation for delegations and guests of the 61st session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND).
The stand will include key analytical information on SCO member state cooperation and joint projects in countering illegal drug trafficking. Detailed information on the SCO's achievements in fighting drug trafficking is shown in booklets, charts, plans and drawings. The handout materials in English and Russian present the basic principles of a three-tier mechanism for regular cooperation in the antidrug effort as well as the current situation and prospects of international cooperation in this important part of SCO activity.
For the second year, visitors at the SCO booth showed special interest in the SCO member states' Declaration for the UN General Assembly Special Session on the World Drug Problem, which was circulated in the six official languages of the United Nations.
On March 12, during the first half of the day, UN Under-Secretary-General, UNODC Executive Director Yury Fedotov and SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov visited the SCO information stand.
The SCO information stand opened in the central hall in front of the entrance to the plenary session hall of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs and will remain open until 16 March 2018.
