On 28 April 2017, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's headquarters hosted a meeting between SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the People's Republic of China Shakhrat Nuryshev.
The bilateral meeting was held ahead of the opening of the presentation, The Transit Potential of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the SCO headquarters. The presentation was organised in line with the Plan of Joint Events of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in China and the SCO Secretariat for the Period of Kazakhstan's Presidency in 2016-2017.
The parties shared opinions on a broad range of issues pertaining to the preparations for the organisation's main event: the SCO Heads of State Council meeting to be held on 8-9 June in Astana, Kazakhstan.
During their conversation, the officials paid particular attention to the results of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting held on 20-21 April in Astana.
