On 27-28 April 2017, representatives from the SCO foreign ministries met at the SCO Secretariat in Beijing for consultations on the interaction of their information departments as part of information support for the activities of SCO.
The participants exchanged opinions on steps to promote cooperation between the SCO foreign ministries' information departments in the provision of information support to SCO activities. They also listened to a Secretariat report on information performance over the past year.
The participants in the meeting focused on joint information coverage of the upcoming meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State in Astana in June this year.
"The Republic of Kazakhstan, which holds the rotating SCO Presidency, places a high value on the joint information work to present the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in the global media space. We are working actively to prepare for the upcoming major political event due to be held in the capital of Kazakhstan. We will open a press centre at the SCO Summit and will create conditions so that all journalists can comfortably carry out their fruitful work. The organisation's noble goals and objectives must be clearly demonstrated at the SCO Summit in Astana," said Dinara Zheldybaeva, deputy head of the Committee for International Information at the Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan, who chaired the meeting.
The consultations of the SCO foreign ministries on the interaction of their information departments as part of information support for SCO activities were held under the 2017 programme of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the SCO member states.
