On 6 March 2025, SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev visited the SCO People’s Diplomacy Centre (PDC) in Uzbekistan at the host country’s invitation as part of his official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
He had a meeting with PDC Director Kabuljon Sabirov. The officials held a detailed exchange of views on the current state and prospects for cooperation in culture, the humanitarian area, information and journalism within the SCO. They also discussed the activities of the SCO Goodwill Ambassadors institution.
Nurlan Yermekbayev praised the PDC’s contribution to strengthening friendship between SCO member states, including by promoting the Organisation’s image in Uzbekistan and elsewhere. He said that the SCO Secretariat was ready to continue its cooperation with the Centre and other organizations in SCO member countries.
Mr Sabirov, in turn, thanked the Secretary-General for his invariable attention to improving the SCO countries’ mechanisms of people’s diplomacy and expressed an interest in organising joint events with the Secretariat in culture, science, technology and education.
The parties agreed to maintain close contacts and exchange proposals and ideas aimed at energising joint work.
