On 27 January 2025 in Minsk, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and Head of the SCO Observer Mission for the Presidential Election in the Republic of Belarus Nurlan Yermekbayev was received by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
The President noted that the nation takes pride in its accession as an SCO member state in 2024 and underscored Belarus’s commitment to advancing the Organisation’s continued development and consolidation as a global centre of gravity.
Nurlan Yermekbayev congratulated Alexander Lukashenko on his decisive victory in the presidential election, according to preliminary results. He affirmed that the SCO Observer Mission consistently adheres to the principles of objectivity and neutrality in its undertakings. The Secretary-General also highlighted the high standard of electoral organisation, the preparedness of election commission members, and the keen interest demonstrated by the public.
During the exchange, the parties addressed matters related to enhancing collaboration within the SCO framework, including the implementation of initiatives proposed by the Republic of Belarus, as well as the imperative of further refining the Organisation’s operational efficacy.
