On 5 November 2024 in Kuwait, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Zhang Ming met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya on the sidelines of the High-Level Conference on Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms, which is a part of the Dushanbe Process.
The Secretary-General thanked the Kuwaiti side for the invitation to participate in the conference and congratulated them on the success of the event. Zhang Ming briefed his counterpart on the SCO’s achievements and further development prospects. He commended the high level of Kuwait’s participation in the SCO’s activities. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of openness in the cooperation aimed at strengthening peace, security, and stability in the region, and promoting its further prosperity.
SCO Secretary-General Meets with Foreign Minister of Kuwait
The Foreign Minister of Kuwait thanked the Secretary-General for the invitation to visit the SCO Secretariat, noting the common goals and principles of mutual cooperation. He expressed interest in further developing and using the advantages offered by the SCO as a dialogue partner, and in deepening interaction with SCO member states across various areas such as security, trade and the economy, cultural and humanitarian affairs, in pursuit of further prosperity for the countries and peoples of the region.
