On 11 October 2024, a delegation from the SCO Secretariat, headed by SCO Deputy Secretary-General Shri Janesh Kain, took part in the International Forum "The Interconnection of Times and Civilisations – the Foundation of Peace and Development", marking the 300th birthday anniversary of Turkmen literary classic Magtymguly Pyragy.
Attending the event were the leaders of ten states, representatives of foreign governments, leaders of international organisations, diplomats, academics, cultural workers and artists.
During the forum, Shri Janesh Kain addressed the session on The Philosophy of Magtymguly Pyragy and the Diplomacy of Neutral Turkmenistan. In his remarks, he discussed the similarities between SCO values and the great poet’s philosophy.
On 12 October, Shri Janesh Kain met with Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organisation Asad Majeed Khan on the sidelines of the forum. The officials exchanged views on the current state and prospects of collaboration between the two organisations under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2007.
