On 31 May 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Ahmed Attaf visited the SCO Secretariat and met with SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming.
The parties discussed the regional and global agendas in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The Secretary-General informed the Foreign Minister about the SCO’s current activities, expansion process, and development prospects.
The minister praised the SCO’s role on the global stage and said that his country shared the goals and principles of the Organisation. He expressed his interest in cooperation with the SCO and reaffirmed Algeria’s intention to join the SCO’s activities in this context.
