On 18-19 April 2024, Moscow hosted a regular meeting of the SCO Expert Group (EG) on International Information Security (IIS) in a hybrid format chaired by Russia.
Attending the event were delegations of the Republic of India, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Kazakhstan, People’s Republic of China, Russian Federation, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Uzbekistan, Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the SCO Secretariat, the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure, and the Republic of Belarus as an observer state.
The participants paid special attention to stepping up multilateral cooperation in ensuring information security to create a safe, just and open information space including cooperation on specialised multilateral platforms, first and foremost, as part of the UN.

The parties in attendance shared their ideas regarding implementation and extension of the SCO Member States’ Plan of Cooperation on Ensuring International Information Security for 2022-2023. They expressed a number of proposals to counter the use of information-communication technologies for criminal purposes, and to establish dialogue between the central (national) banks of the SCO member states in the financial sphere.
