On 23 February the SCO Observer Mission started its work at the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly and local councils of deputies of the Republic of Belarus, which are scheduled for 25 February.
They discussed the work plan, allocation by precincts, the goals and objectives of the Mission, coordination of work and the principles of its implementation at the first working meeting of the Headquarters chaired by the Head of the Mission, SCO Deputy Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev.
The Mission members met with Igor Karpenko, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus, leaders of political parties (Belaya Rus and Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus), representatives of public associations, as well as observers from other organisations.
During the day, the Mission members also visited a number of polling stations in Minsk and monitored early voting.
On the same day, they laid flowers at the obelisk Minsk - Hero-City.
