On 18 February 2022, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming visited China's Minister of Science and Technology Wang Zhigang. They discussed efforts to further expand mutually beneficial science and technological cooperation between China and SCO member states.
Zhang Ming drew attention to China's rich experience of introducing the results of various science and technological research projects into production and noted wide-ranging prospects for expanding intra-SCO interaction in this field. Both officials agreed that the Meetings of the Heads of Science and Technology Ministries and Departments of the SCO Member States had proved their role as an effective venue for strengthening science, technological and innovation cooperation within the Organisation.
Wang Zhigang reaffirmed China's interest in further expanding science and technological cooperation with SCO partners. He underscored the need to pool the efforts of SCO member states and to jointly search for new directions of interaction of common interest.
