On 17 September 2019, SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the People's Republic of China Ali Al Dhaheri. The meeting took place at the SCO Secretariat in Beijing.
The high-ranking diplomat praised the SCO's activity on the international stage and its successes in maintaining stability and security in the vast SCO space, as well as its active and assertive position in counteracting terrorism, separatism and extremism, its consistent measures related to counteracting drug trafficking, and the constructive agenda aimed at forming a world order based on justice and equality.
The Ambassador emphasised that the UAE had good relations with all SCO member states and was striving to strengthen its ties with the SCO.
Mr Norov briefed the Ambassador on the SCO's current activity and future plans. In particular, he focused on various events that would be taking place as part of the Russian presidency, including the main event, the SCO summit in St Petersburg in July 2020.
At the Ambassador's request, he was given information on how to join the SCO.
The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
