SCO Mission meets with Kazakhstan’s Central Electoral Commission leadership

On 9 January SCO Mission members met with the leadership of Kazakhstan's Central Election Commission in its office.

The observers were given an outline by the Commission's Deputy Chair Konstantin Petrov on the progress of the preparations for the next elections to the Mazhilis, the lower house of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan scheduled for 10 January.

Mission members thanked him for the invitation to take part in the electoral process as international observers and shared the Mission's work programme with the Commission. The programme comprehensively covers the entire electoral procedure with due account of the experience accumulated by the SCO.

Rounding up the talks the participants wished each other every success in the course of the elections.

After the meeting the Mission members answered questions presented by journalists at the Central Election Commission's press centre regarding the international observer activities of the SCO during the elections to the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
