On 27 February 2020, SCO Secretariat Adviser Vladimir Zakharov attended a roundtable discussion on CSTO countries' cooperation in the field of cybersecurity at the invitation of the Centre for Geopolitical Studies, Russian-Tajik Slavonic University.

The event focused on ICT challenges in Central Asia, the role of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) and the SCO in protecting regional stability from the threat of hybrid wars, and also the creation of an international system in Central Asia to combat ICT crime. Participants called for uniting the efforts of international and regional organisations, primarily the SCO and the CSTO, in this field.

Vladimir Zakharov spoke about the importance of the event's agenda and the profound significance of the reports. He updated the participants on the SCO efforts to strengthen international cybersecurity taken within the framework of the 2009 SCO Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Ensuring International Information Security. He also disclosed the essence of the relevant documents drafted at the initiative of SCO member states for discussion at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.
