On 12 July 2019, SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov met with the Secretary-General for Foreign Affairs of the Austrian Foreign Ministry, Johannes Peterlik, in Vienna.
The SCO Secretary-General informed his colleague about the outcome of the Bishkek Summit held on 13-14 June 2019 as well the organisation's activities and key areas of multifaceted cooperation within the SCO. He noted that the organisation was working towards its goals as stipulated in its Charter and other fundamental documents, based on a consensus that ensures equality among the member states. "The SCO takes an open and non-directional approach in relation to other states and international organisations," Vladimir Norov said.
Johannes Peterlik praised the SCO's activities in regional security and stability and noted that the organisation had achieved great success in providing sustainable development in Eurasia.
The officials discussed the environment, trade and economic cooperation, the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking and the establishment of ties with European international organisations.
They also focused on the development of transport infrastructure through cooperation between the SCO and the European Union.
The officials also discussed current issues on the international agenda.
