On 28 May 2018, the SCO Headquarters in Beijing hosted a meeting between SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kozimjan Kamilov.
The parties exchanged views on current issues of court justice and updating the legal framework for cooperation between the supreme courts in the SCO space.
They discussed how to increase the potential of Supreme Courts as a "just sword" of justice against persons in any way implicated in the illegal trafficking of drugs or weapons, cross-border and other crime.
Mr Alimov noted that an established and stable dialogue and cooperation between the SCO Supreme Courts and exchanges of law enforcement information created conditions for effective countering of transnational risks and threats.
Mr Kamilov said that the accession of India and Pakistan offered additional opportunities for tapping the huge potential for neighbourliness and interaction between the SCO member states and their peoples and stressed that the recent decision on establishing a working expert group on introducing information technology in court activities within the framework of interaction between the Chief Justices of the Supreme Courts of the SCO member states would facilitate the further computerisation and enhancement of the level of IT in court activities.
He also thanked his host for the warm reception and noted the importance of promoting relations on current issues of court justice in bilateral and multilateral formats.
The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
