On 7 May 2018, the Headquarters of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation hosted a meeting with journalists from leading publications of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
Deputy SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Potapenko provided details about the progress of preparations for the SCO Heads of State Council meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Qingdao in June 2018. He praised journalists for their coverage of multifaceted SCO activities and expressed hope for an in-depth coverage of events in the run-up to and on the day of the Summit, which will be held in the Shanghai Eight format for the first time.
During the meeting, the journalists received exhaustive answers to their questions and thanked the SCO Secretariat for its openness and close cooperation with the media.
The journalists had the opportunity to be present at a meeting of the SCO countries' permanent representatives. They also toured the marble SCO Charter Hall, and the halls of the SCO countries' capitals. The journalists were especially impressed by the Coat of Arms Hall and the themed book collection of the SCO Library.
