On 4 May 2018, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov met with Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, who also chairs the SCO Heads of Government Council, in Dushanbe.
During the meeting, they discussed the current state and prospects of development as well as opportunities to strengthen trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation in the framework of the SCO in the context of preparations for the upcoming meeting of the SCO Heads of Government Council in Dushanbe.
The Secretary-General thanked the Prime Minister for Tajikistan's efforts and contribution to intensifying economic cooperation inside the SCO and noted Tajikistani ministries' and agencies' activities to promote the agenda of the country's chairmanship in the SCO Heads of Government Council jointly with its SCO partners.
Kokhir Rasulzoda expressed confidence that the upcoming meeting of the SCO Heads of Government Council in Dushanbe in October 2018 would help discover new cooperation horizons and give a boost to regional economic and trade ties as well as humanitarian and cultural projects in the framework of the SCO.
The Heads of Government Council meets once a year to address the strategy of multifaceted cooperation and priorities of the Organisation, discuss important issues related to economic and other cooperation, and adopt the Organisation's annual budget.
