On 3 and 4 May, specialists and working groups of experts in judicial activity and legal services met in Bishkek, the capital of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, as part of preparations for the 6th Conference of Justice Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), scheduled for the second half of 2018. The meetings were chaired by the Kyrgyz side.
The participants discussed cooperation between the SCO justice departments with regard to the implementation of agreements signed during the previous conference of the SCO justice ministers (Tashkent, 2017). They also considered the question of wider cooperation on the provision of legal assistance between SCO member states.
A consolidated package of documents has been drafted and this is due to be submitted for the SCO justice ministers' approval during the upcoming conference.
Three working expert groups operate within the framework of the Conference of the SCO Justice Ministers: 1) the expert group to prepare the Conference; 2) the working group on judicial and expert activity; and 3) the working group on legal services.
