On 2 May 2018, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov met with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov in the city of Dushanbe.
During the meeting, the officials held a detailed and extensive discussion on relevant issues of the current and future agenda of the SCO, including preparations for the SCO Heads of State Council Meeting, which will be held on 9-10 June 2018, in Qingdao (China).
The parties agreed that the upcoming meeting, which will be held in the Shanghai Eight format for the first time in the history of the SCO, will give further impetus to the development of the organisation and reveal with renewed vigour the great potential for good-neighbourliness, cooperation and interaction between the SCO states and their peoples.
The officials also discussed a range of issues concerning the current state of the organisation's international links, and prospects for their development.
The discussion was held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere.
Between 2 and 5 May 2018, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov will be visiting the city of Dushanbe, the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan, in order to participate in the high-level International Conference on Countering Terrorism and Preventing Violent Extremism. The conference is organised by the government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the UN, OSCE and EU.
