SCO Kunming International Marathon awarded CAA Golden Certificate

On 8 February 2018 at the SCO Secretariat, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov met with the President of the Chinese Athletics Association (САА) Duan Shijie who presented him with a CAA Golden Certificate, an honorary award for the 2017 SCO Kunming International Marathon.

The marathon now has the highest status on the CAA scale of mass sports and cultural events.

During the meeting, the CAA President expressed his gratitude for the SCO's initiative and support, and commended the Secretary-General's invaluable contribution to the high level of the 2017 SCO Kunming International Marathon's organisation which "symbolises progress of the human civilization."

Duan Shijie stressed that "as people are becoming wealthier, their approach to life is changing. The trend for improving the quality of physical fitness and wellbeing has become stronger. It is a direct result of global economic development. This was proved by a great number of participants who wanted to specifically take part in the SCO Kunming International Marathon, an event uniting not only the countries of the SCO family but also representatives of other nations."

Rashid Alimov sincerely thanked President Duan Shijie for his assistance in the great project of bringing closer the peoples of our countries united by the Shanghai spirit and love for sports. He expressed his willingness to expand cooperation with the Chinese Athletics Association.

The meeting participants enjoyed an informal and friendly conversation.
