SCO Secretary-General meets with Pakistani planning and transportation officials

On 6 February, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov held meetings with Mr Sartaj Aziz, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms, and Dr Hafiz Abdul Kareem, Minister for Communications.

The meeting with Mr Aziz included a presentation of Pakistan's ongoing and future projects in the economy and infrastructure. The officials also discussed preparations for the upcoming meeting of the SCO ministers responsible for foreign economic and foreign trade activities to be held within the framework of the SCO Heads of Government Council meeting in Dushanbe in October 2018.

During a meeting with the Communications Minister, the SCO delegation attended a presentation of the ongoing road and rail projects in Pakistan as well as discussed the possibility of enhancing Pakistan's involvement in the SCO transport cooperation, including in the context of the implementation of the SCO Agreement on the Facilitation of International Road Transport.

The SCO delegates also had a meeting with Foreign Secretary Ms Tehmina Janjua to discuss practical interaction between the SCO Secretariat and the Pakistani Foreign Ministry.

In conclusion of the official programme, the SCO Secretary-General visited the Faisal Mosque, which is referred to as the largest mosque in Asia, and the Pakistan Monument, a national monument and heritage museum.
