SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, had a meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad on 6 February.
Mr Alimov and Mr Asif discussed the current state of multilateral cooperation within the SCO and prospects for its further development, including in light of Pakistan's increasing contribution to SCO efforts in a broad range of areas of collaboration. The officials also discussed preparations for SCO events planned for 2018, including the SCO summit in Qingdao (China) and a meeting of the SCO Heads of Government Council in Dushanbe (Tajikistan).
The Pakistani minister thanked the SCO Secretary-General for visiting Pakistan and pointed out Islamabad's desire to further develop and deepen interaction within the SCO.
Rashid Alimov thanked his Pakistani host for the invitation and hospitality and said that the organisation's potential had increased thanks to the admission of influential South Asian powers.
After the meeting, the Pakistani minister invited the SCO Secretary-General and his delegation to an official dinner.
