On 26 January 2018, ambassadors of the SCO member states arrived in the city of Shenzhen, located in China's Guangdong Province, to take part in a regular offsite session of the SCO Ambassadors Club. The programme includes meeting with the city's top officials and members of the business community, and visiting high-technology industrial facilities in Shenzhen, a major industrial, financial and transport centre in the Pearl River Delta (Zhujiang Delta) economic region and in China at large.
The programme of events started with a meeting between the SCO Ambassadors Club members and Shenzhen Vice Mayor Gao Zimin and a joint working dinner, where participants had a comprehensive exchange of opinions on the opportunities for establishing and prospects for expanding economic ties between SCO member states and Guangdong Province and the city of Shenzhen in high-technology, communications, energy, and production cooperation sectors.
The SCO Ambassadors Club is a regular platform for sessions of the heads of diplomatic missions of SCO member states accredited in China and held to discuss practical issues of advancing comprehensive interaction within the SCO. Offsite sessions have taken place since 2014 and are aimed at seeking new opportunities for cooperation, including between SCO administrative-territorial units of the SCO member states as well as business community.
