On November 17, 2018, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov met with Zhang Hongsen, Vice Minister of the People's Republic of China's State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.
During the meeting, the officials exchanged views on prospects for possible cooperation between the film industries of SCO member states on new and existing platforms within the framework of China's SCO presidency. The participants also discussed the potential for strengthening collaboration between leading players in the film industry, including directors, as well as the search for young acting talent, the promotion of SCO member states' films, and other issues.
"Despite the significant differences in the levels of film industry development in SCO member states, all our countries have a major advantage — unique national characteristics and cultural peculiarities, which together make up a rich and diverse cinematic mosaic," said Rashid Alimov, SCO Secretary-General. "This reflects the constant dialogue between our cultures."
"Cinema is one of the few types of art that can show us the future. And SCO is a new type of organisation. Its constructive agenda is directed towards the future, too — the future, which, together, we can make beautiful," Mr Alimov concluded.
The meeting was held in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
