SCO Secretary-General sends birthday greetings to Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov

In his message wishing a happy birthday to Abdulaziz Kamilov, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov said, in part: "I had the good fortune to meet you almost 25 years ago, when the Republic of Uzbekistan, like all other new independent post-Soviet states, was taking its first steps on the international arena. You stood at the origins of your country's foreign policy and made a significant contribution to the consolidation of peace, security and stability in the Central Asian region and far beyond.

"In you, world diplomacy has gained a man of high culture, encyclopaedic knowledge and respect for partners, combined with a steadfast commitment to protecting and promoting the national interests of Uzbekistan.

"You enjoy well-deserved respect among your colleagues, who treat you with sincere warmth and deference, which especially shows in the ‘SCO family.'"

The SCO Secretary-General expressed sincere gratitude to Mr Kamilov for his constant attention to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and its activities, and wished him good health, happiness, boundless energy and well-being.

Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov turned 70 on 16 November 2017.
