On 14-15 November 2017, Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, hosted the seventh Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA). The foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, Rasit Meredow and Salahuddin Rabbani, chaired the event.
High-ranking representatives of the concerned states and international organisations took part in the forum. Second Vice President of Afghanistan Mohammad Sarwar Danish and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rasit Meredow greeted participants of the RECCA Ministerial Meeting.
Working group participants reviewed current RECCA activities, including high-priority projects, charted during the previous conference in Kabul, and discussed funding sources. Some new projects were unveiled at the conference, and other events took place. Conference participants also focused on further support for the private sector and business cooperation, as well as ways of generating synergy between RECCA and other regional cooperation formats.
An exhibit on women in business took place during the conference. The heads of participating countries' chambers of commerce and industry met, and a business forum as well as a science-practical forum were held.
Ambassador Mikhail Konarovsky represented the SCO Secretariat at the conference.
The Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA) is an international economic cooperation format in South and Central Asia for providing assistance to Afghanistan. The Conference has been held since 2005.
