Towards a new stage in developing SCO trade and economic cooperation

The meeting of the SCO Commission of Senior Officials in Charge of Trade and Economic Cooperation

On 13-14 November, the 29th meeting of the SCO Commission of Senior Officials in Charge of Trade and Economic Cooperation, chaired by Russia, was held in Moscow.

The agenda was devoted to preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Council of External Trade and Economy Ministers of SCO Member States, which takes place in the Russian capital on 15 November, 2017

The meeting focused on summarising results of the Action Plan on Implementation of the Program of Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation and the involvement of the Republic of India and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the practical economic activities of the Organisation, including in the implementation of the related programme and planning documents.

The experts analysed the activity of special working groups on sectoral areas of cooperation and discussed ways to further facilitate partnership on small and medium businesses and improve combined efforts between the administrative-territorial units of SCO Member States.

The Commission of Senior Officials in Charge of Trade and Economic Cooperation operates under the Council of External Trade and Economy Ministers of the SCO Member States, in order to implement the clauses of the Programme of Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation of the SCO Member States.

The Commission of Senior Officials coordinates special working groups on developing transit potential, assisting in investment, e-trade, modern information and telecommunication technologies, simplifying trade, and customs cooperation.
