On 6-13 November 2017, China hosted the Belt and Road professional skills competition sponsored by the All-China Trade Union, with over 60 participants from SCO member-countries, observer states and dialogue partners, as well as the Chairperson of the Asian Association of Welders.
On 6 November 2017, the House of Chinese Industrial and Office Workers hosted the competition's opening ceremony, with Ms Xu Lu, Deputy Secretary General of the External Ties Centre of Chinese Industrial and Office Workers, greeting the participants.
On 7-10 November 2017, the city of Langfang hosted some of the competition's events, including lectures on welding technologies, a familiarisation tour of a welding laboratory and specialised equipment, experience exchanges on welding methods and competitions between professional welders.
SCO Secretary General Rashid Alimov sent a message of greetings to the competitors and winners.
On 13 November 2017, the House of Chinese Industrial and Office Workers hosted the competition awards ceremony. Seven participants received gold medals, with seven more receiving silver medals. Seven were awarded bronze medals, and three people received Grand Prix awards. Deng Kai, Deputy Chairman and Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party Organisation of the National Trade Union, Shen Beili, Assistant Head of the External Ties Department at the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and other officials presented the certificates.
Deputy SCO Secretary General Vladimir Potapenko took part in the awards ceremony.
