On 9 November 2017, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov gave a lecture on the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's activities before members of the expanded Academic Council of Samarkand State University.
"The SCO is an influential universal regional organisation prioritising dialogue based on a high level of mutual trust, mutual respect and a search for optimal joint development scenarios in the interests of ensuring the prosperity of its countries as well as its peoples," Mr Alimov said.
The SCO Secretary-General answered numerous questions from Academic Council members, professors and lecturers of Samarkand State University.
He highly praised the initiative of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on convening an international conference titled: Central Asia: one past and a common future, cooperation for sustained development and mutual prosperity.
The conference is scheduled to be held on 10-11 November 2017 in Samarkand and is to involve over 300 guests from foreign countries.
