The UN and SCO continue to boost their interaction: the SCO Secretary-General meets the UN official representative in China

On 4 September 2017, the SCO Headquarters was the venue of a meeting between SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov and Nicholas Rosellini, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in the People's Republic of China.

Those at the meeting discussed matters of further development of cooperation between the United Nations and the SCO in counteracting threats and challenges, as well as the development of economic and cultural ties.

Mr Rosellini emphasised the UN's interest in cooperating with the SCO in a wide range of areas and noted the special importance of the SCO in global and regional affairs.

The SCO Secretary-General informed the UN representative about the upcoming plans of the SCO Secretariat at UN meetings, including the upcoming General Assembly.

The parties expressed readiness to continue joint work in the agreed directions.

The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere.
