SCO foreign ministries review the legal framework for cooperation

Delegations from the SCO foreign ministries met at the SCO Secretariat in Beijing on 28 February to 2 March 2017 to discuss the legal framework for cooperation within the organisation.

The consultations were held in a constructive and business-like atmosphere. The participants exchanged opinions on ways to improve the legal framework of their countries' cooperation and reviewed the SCO documents and information about the ratification and implementation of internal procedures under the international treaties signed within the SCO.

The participants also discussed draft documents on the termination of some decisions taken by the Council of the Heads of State, the Council of the Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) and the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the SCO member states.

They also exchanged information on and experience of organising the work of document depositories at the member states' foreign ministries and the procedure for publishing the SCO's international treaties by the member states.

The parties pointed out the expediency of further consultations on the legal framework for SCO activities.

Consultations between the SCO member states' foreign ministries were launched in 2004 to exchange opinions on issues of mutual interest at different levels.
