On 1 March, the Expert Working Group on Precursor Control of the Meeting of the Heads of Competent Authorities for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking held a meeting at the SCO Headquarters in Beijing.
Chaired by Kazakhstan, the working group meeting was attended by representatives of the competent authorities for combating illicit drug trafficking. The agenda included a number of major issues related to the SCO counternarcotics action plan for 2017, primarily precursor trafficking control in the SCO member states.
The participants exchanged data on illicit precursor trafficking and discussed opportunities for detecting and cutting off channels of their illicit transit within the SCO.
The Expert Working Group on Precursor Control has been established and operates as part of the SCO Meeting of the Heads of Competent Authorities for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking pursuant to the resolution of 19 May 2009 approved by the said meeting. The working group is responsible for organising joint events, studies and information cooperation in the precursors control area.
