The Expert Working Group on Law Enforcement
SCO law enforcement agencies strengthen cooperation against drug-related crime

The Expert Working Group on Law Enforcement of the Meeting of the Senior Officials of Competent Authorities for Combatting Illicit Drug Trafficking met at the SCO Secretariat on 28 February 2017.

The meeting was chaired by Kazakhstan and was attended by representatives of the SCO competent authorities for combatting illicit drug trafficking.

The agenda included current issues related to the SCO's counternarcotics action plan for 2017, primarily the strengthening of cooperation between the SCO member states' law enforcement and other competent authorities.

The meeting participants discussed the illegal trafficking of synthetic drugs and new psychoactive substances in the SCO countries and information exchange in this sphere.

The Expert Working Group on Law Enforcement and Suppression of Drug-Related Crimes was created at the Meeting of the Senior Officials of Competent Authorities for Combatting Illicit Drug Trafficking by the meeting's decision of 19 May 2009. The group is responsible for organising joint events, studies and information cooperation in law enforcement and suppression of drug-related crimes.
