Experts meet at the SCO Secretariat to discuss drug demand reduction issues

The Expert Working Group on Drug Demand Reduction

The Expert Working Group on Drug Demand Reduction of the Meeting of the Heads of the SCO Counternarcotics Agencies met at the SCO Secretariat in Beijing on 27 February 2017.

The meeting of the working group was chaired by Kazakhstan. It was attended by representatives of the SCO member states' counternarcotic agencies.

The agenda included issues related to the SCO's counternarcotics action plan for 2017, primarily efforts to reduce the demand for drugs in the SCO member states.

The meeting participants discussed a concept for an international SCO counternarcotics campaign, For the World without Narcotic Drugs.

The Expert Working Group on Drug Demand Reduction was established in accordance with the 19 May 2009 decision of the Meeting of the Heads of the SCO Member States' Counternarcotics Agencies. The group is responsible for organising joint events, studies and information cooperation aimed at reducing the demand for drugs.
