On 23-24 November, the information services of SCO member states’ Foreign Ministries held a regular round of consultations at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Beijing in a hybrid format. The meeting was attended by division heads of the nine countries’ foreign ministries, with the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran joining the group's work this year.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the Kyrgyz Republic's coverage of the SCO Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) Council meeting, outlined the agenda for the upcoming meetings of the SCO Foreign Ministers Council, SCO Heads of State Council and other events to be held during Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the Organisation. They also exchanged information on cooperation between their foreign ministries and the media of the SCO member states to promote a positive image of the SCO in the international arena. Additionally, discussions included collective measures on countering the spread of disinformation and providing a coordinated response to planted fakes.
During the consultations the participants received updates from the SCO Secretariat about efforts to promote information about the Organisation online from November 2022 to November 2023.
