On 7-8 November, Tashkent hosted the Ninth International Scientific and Practical Conference of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure entitled Trust, Cooperation and Professionalism as a Guarantee of the Secure Future, which was attended by more than 160 participants from 17 countries, including representatives of the competent agencies of the SCO member states, observer states and dialogue partners, as well as the executive bodies of eight international organisations and 10 international research centres, as well as educational institutions of the SCO member states’ competent agencies.

The forum agenda included a review of the legal and regulatory framework for anti-terrorist cooperation, forecasts of terrorist and extremist risks in the SCO region, and prospects for active and constructive participation of civil society and scientific organisations on the anti-terrorist track.
SCO Deputy Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev addressed a plenary session stressing the importance of increasing the international community's joint efforts to counter the activities of terrorist, separatist and extremist groups, including through dialogue, bilateral and multilateral cooperation based on mutual trust, which in turn will serve to create stable and durable guarantees of international security.
