The First Transport Forum of the SCO member states was held in Tashkent on 1 November 2023 at the initiative advanced by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 2022 SCO Heads of State Council meeting in Samarkand.
The event was attended by representatives of the nine SCO member states. The plenary session was addressed by Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilhom Makhkamov, SCO Deputy Secretary-General Sohail Khan, Deputy Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastayev, Deputy Minister of Transport of China Li Yang, Federal Minister for Railways of Pakistan Shahid Ashraf Tarar, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Dmitry Zverev, Minister of Transport of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim, and member of the Eurasian Economic Commission Board Arzybek Kozhoshev.
The forum participants discussed the development potential of the transport and logistics sectors of the SCO countries, digitising prospects in the transport sector, best practices for creating reliable cargo supply chains, the implementation of infrastructure projects, and ways to ensure sustainable economic growth in transport and communications.
