On 20-21 October, the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand hosted a conference and workshop on the Prospects for Developing Sustainable Tourism and Preserving Cultural Heritage in the SCO countries.

SCO Deputy Secretary General Janesh Kain said in his address that by improving infrastructure and establishing a comfortable visa regime for foreign citizens, Uzbekistan is doing everything necessary to become an attractive tourist destination.

He stressed that holding the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly and the conference in the ancient city of Samarkand is  proof of Uzbekistan’s efforts to strengthen the architecture of global humanitarian dialogue.

The conference brought together tourism experts from SCO countries. During the panel sessions, participants discussed problems and prospects for the development of multilateral cooperation among SCO member states in such areas as culture, education and tourism.
