On 19-20 September 2023, an SCO Secretariat delegation, led by Deputy Secretary-General Nuran Niyazaliev, took part in the 30th China Agricultural High-Tech Fair in Yangling, Shanxi Province.
At the invitation of the organisers, Mr Niyazaliev attended the opening ceremony and also presented his reports at the Global Forum on Soil Health and International Agricultural Science and Technology Forum.
A conference on cooperation and development of modern agriculture in the SCO countries was held on the sidelines of the fair. In his address to participants, the Deputy Secretary-General highlighted the implementation by the SCO member states of the Action Plan for 2021-2025 for the implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture and the Concept of interaction of authorized bodies in the field of “smart” agriculture and agricultural innovation. He emphasised that the activities of the SCO Demonstration Base to teach and exchange agricultural technologies in Yangling was very useful. The concept for this was approved by resolution at the Meeting of SCO Ministers of Agriculture in August 2021.
