On 5 May 2023, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming had a meeting with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin on the sidelines of the SCO Foreign Ministers Council Meeting in Panaji, the Republic of India.
The partners exchanged opinions on preparations for the SCO Heads of State Council Meeting in New Delhi and facilitating consensus among national leaders.
Sirojiddin Muhriddin said that Tajikistan was doing its best to promote diverse intra-SCO cooperation, that it had voiced a number of important initiatives and was ready to interact with all sides in implementing decisions reached by the heads of state and in preparing for the SCO summit in New Delhi. Tajikistani side will play an even more active role in efforts to streamline the mechanism for responding to security threats and challenges, Mr Muhriddin added. He expressed hope that the SCO Secretariat would continue to support Tajikistan’s initiatives and facilitate more profound mutual understanding between the sides.
The SCO Secretary-General praised Tajikistan’s contribution to the Organisation’s development over the years and thanked the Minister for supporting the work of the Secretariat. He noted the Secretariat’s readiness to study and promote various initiatives, in the interests of promoting development and cooperation among SCO member states.
