On 20 April 2023, the project Dialogue between SCO School and University Students and the Crew of the Shenzhou-15 Chinese Spacecraft was unveiled at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. The event was organised by China’s SCO Committee on Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation, the SCO Secretariat, the SCO Youth Council, the China National Space Administration, the All-China Youth Federation and China’s Soong Ching Ling Foundation.
SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming, Vice President of China’s SCO Committee on Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation Cui Li, Vice President of the All-China Youth Federation Fu Zhengbang and Chinese astronaut Cai Xuzhe spoke at the opening ceremony. Pilot-cosmonaut of the Soviet Union and Russia Sergei Krikalyov sent a video address to the meeting participants.
Representatives of embassies of SCO countries, as well as officials of the SCO Secretariat and their children, were present at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.
SCO school pupils spoke with Chinese astronauts taking part in the Shenzhou-15 spaceflight, now orbiting the Earth, via videoconference and asked them various questions.
