On 15 November 2022, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming met with Executive Secretary of the SCO Business Council Sergei Kanavsky in Moscow.
Sergei Kanavsky updated Zhang Ming on the recent work of the Business Council, including the modalities of cooperation with economic entities of the SCO observer states and dialogue partners.
Zhang Ming highlighted the important role played by the Business Council in the context of the consistent promotion of economic partnership across the SCO, as well as the importance of the further growth of its effective output and the successful alignment of
governmental and non-governmental formats of economic cooperation.
Prime Minister of Bashkortostan Andrei Nazarov, who was present at the meeting, spoke about the region’s participation in region-to-region exchanges as part of the SCO.
The SCO Business Council (SCO BC) is a non-governmental organisation whose members represent the business and financial communities of the SCO member states. The SCO BC was established in 2006 with the mission of promoting the expansion of economic cooperation within the SCO, establishing direct ties and dialogue between the business and financial communities of the member states, and involving them in comprehensive business cooperation including trade, economic and investment projects.
